The Tower Theatre Podcast – Episode 4
Wednesday December 2
Podcast number 4 from the Tower Theatre!
Presented and Produced by Angharad Ormond and Matt Cranfield.
Matt chats to Simona Hughes about her new show About 500. Colin Guthrie joins us to talk about music in theatre with extracts from Lark Rise recorded by Joey Braddick and Annemarie Fearnley. We hear from David Taylor about what’s been happening at The Tower during the Lockdown and this week’s drama Second Best Bed is written by Lucy Beacon, performed by Ruth Sullivan, with sound and direction by Colin Guthrie.
Thank you to all our members and listeners, especially Emily Carmichael, Lucy Moss, Annemarie Fearnley and Joanna Nevin for sharing their experiences of music in theatre.
Created by our members.
Recorded in isolation.
We want to make the podcast as collaborative as possible and are really keen for members to provide material and share their ideas. If you want to contribute to the podcast email Matt and Angharad or follow us on Twitter and Instagram : @podcasttower.
Taking the format of an audio magazine, each episode will include several features:
- a conversational piece/interview between host and guest, or between two guests, such as a retrospective about the process involved in a recent production or a Parkinson-style interview with a look back at a member’s life and theatrical stories
- a listener segment – an opportunity for listeners to pose questions, record comments, anything!
- a radio drama – given the restrictions of recording from a distance this section will be limited to a single voice, such as a reading or monologue. We are particularly interested in original content or work that is out-of-copyright. We welcome content from actors who have a piece they’d like to record, writers who would like us to find an actor to record their work, directors who would like to work with an actor on a piece, or anyone with any ideas about what you’d like to hear in the podcast.
