a two day workshop led by the Hackney Shed team.
A free half term devising workshop for 13 – 18 year olds, taking place at the amazing Tower Theatre in Stoke Newington.
Participants will develop their creative and social skills through playing games, ensemble work, movement, devising and writing exercises. They will also have the opportunity to voice record their work and share this as part of a new theatre festival in late June/July at Tower Theatre.
The theme of the project is looking forward. We want you to think about a message or ‘gift’ you’d like to send to someone in the future. What things have you learned over the last year? What brings you joy? What do you know now that could bring a smile to someone else in the future? What makes you future proof?
Over the two days, we’ll work together to devise and record ‘gifts’ to share with someone you don’t know. This ‘gift’ could be a letter with advice, a recipe that makes someone smile, a workout regime to make you laugh, a dance, a song… something that will feel like a gift to someone else in the future.
On the second day of the project, we’ll write and voice record these ‘gifts’ and a month later they’ll each be shared to audiences as part of Tower Theatre’s new festival – Love [and Survival] in a time of Covid.
