The Friends of the Tower present a Rehearsed Reading of HINDLE WAKES
by Stanley Houghton
Tuesday 9th February at 8 p.m.
When Lancashire mill girl Fanny Hawthorn goes away for Wakes Weekend with her employer's son, the only honorable outcome is marriage ... or is it?
In 1912, Houghton's classic comedy caused uproar. Its theme of youthful rebellion
provokes a lively clash between the generations and is reflected in some sharp
Northern exchanges.
Directed by Colin Smith
with Julie Arrowsmith, Vicky Booth, Chris Holmes, Nigel Martin,
Jill Batty, Jonathan Norris, Denyse Macpherson and Noreen Spall
At the Duke of Wellington, 119 Balls Pond Road, N1
Members free; Guests £1 at the door.
