One-off events in addition to our main programme of performances of plays

The Tower Theatre has several social events in the pipeline for its Members, Friends, audiences and the community.
These events include rehearsed readings, informal social gatherings, Q&A sessions with playwrights and experts, quiz nights as well as workshops on directing, acting, movement and design.
Coming up are:

Saturday 5 September at 10am
Workshop: Clowning Techniques for Actors
What can clowning techniques bring to our acting toolbox?
Julie Joubert’s workshop will introduce you to clowning principles. With a series of games based on physical improvisation, we will explore how the clown’s raw authenticity can help us play characters and dynamics that feel genuine to the audience, across comedy and drama.

Sunday 27 September at 7pm in the Smith Studio
Autumn Poetry Evening
We’re pleased to announce that we’ll be gathering together for our twice-yearly celebration of poetry old and new.
Curated once again by George Savona, the evening brings members together to enjoy and share poetry in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Participants are invited to read a favourite poem – whether a much-loved classic, a hidden gem, or even a piece of their own writing. Come along to read a poem or relax and enjoy the culture with a glass of something (the bar will be open).
Free to Members, Friends and guests!
If you’d like to perform on the night, please contact George Savona with your suggestions for pieces you’d like to read.

Directors’ Workshops
Two more workshops are planned for the autumn:
Sunday 4 October – Producing and Paperwork with Rob Ellis
Sunday 15 November – Warming up and using improvisation in rehearsals with Jonathan Reed
Do you fancy creating – or helping to create – a future event at the Tower Theatre?
We’re talking rehearsed readings, improv nights, comedy, gig nights, poetry nights…. Anything that brings people together and shows what a vibrant and creative community we are. If you have an idea of something you want to do, or if you want to help someone else create a brilliant event, then contact us at [email protected] to share your thoughts!
