This is Rooster’s wood.
“Mr Byron? Mr Johnny ‘Rooster’ Byron?”
St. George’s Day. An old caravan sits at the edge of the Wiltshire woods, an eviction notice pinned to its door. Johnny “Rooster” Byron – a former daredevil and local outlaw – offers stories, sacraments and sanctuary to Flintock’s runaways and misfits, as he stands defiant against the bulldozers of Kennet and Avon County Council.
Following its debut in 2009 at the Royal Court, Jerusalem has been hailed by critics as “the greatest British play of the century” and “the hit that transformed British theatre”. Both magical and haunting, this irreverent hymn to myth, mischief, and England’s lost wildness beats its drum against the relentless march of modernity.
What is England without its myths?

Jerusalem will be Amy Bloomfield‘s first production with the Tower Theatre. Amy has been acting since she was a child and has since trained with the National Youth Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe Youth Theatre and on the RADA Foundation in Acting. Recently she appeared as Sasha, in a new piece of writing called Walking With Molly, at the Riverside Studios and she continues to train at The Actor’s Class. Amy is delighted to be a part of Jerusalem and get back on the stage with such a wonderful company! |
This is Fiona Makia’s third performance at the Tower Theatre after appearing in After Life and Rockets and Blue Lights last year. She has always been a lover of the stage; while living and working in the UAE, Fiona was very active in the expat drama scene, winning a best actress award for her role in The Polygamist during the short and sweet theatre festival held in Abu Dhabi 2018. On her return to the UK she joined Pinner Players to play the bewitching Emily in Les Liaisons Dangereuses. She also played the parts of the first-aider in One Man, Two Guvnors and Madame Arcati in Blithe Spirit. |
Giles Fouhy trained in dramatic art at Bretton Hall, West Yorkshire and was one of the founding actors of critically acclaimed and innovative physical theatre company – fecund theatre. This is his third production with the Tower, having played Fry in Hangmen and the Father Blood Wedding last year, and marks a return, after several decades, to the stage. |
Tim Waghorn made his acting debut in 2023, playing William in the Combined Actors of Cambridge’s production of Lovesong. Jerusalem is his third production with the Tower Theatre, following performances in A Dream Play and Hangmen. Tim also produces and narrates audiobooks, and previously presented a long-running radio show, Caribou Sound System, on Cam FM. |
This is Richard Tinworth‘s acting debut for the Tower. He has studied at ArtsEd gaining an MA in acting in 2024 and also completed courses at RADA and Lee Strasberg. His most recent roles have been Dr Munro in Women in War at the Camden fringe (Alfie James productions), Silvius in As You Like It (Theatre in the Square) and Sebryakov in Uncle Vanya (City Academy). |
Martin Shaw is celebrating his 15th year performing with the Tower Theatre by appearing in Jerusalem. Recent Tower roles include Helge in Festen and Roberto in Death and the Maiden. Other favourites over the years have been Iago in Othello (KDC Theatre), Tranio in The Taming of the Shrew, and Malcolm in Bedroom Farce (Tower Theatre). A Drama and Theatre Studies graduate of Liverpool University, Martin loves getting stuck into psychologically complex characters and stories that don’t pull their punches. |
Emily Carmichael has been a Tower member since 2012; the last time she was seen on its stage was 2023 in Old Bridge, which was also taken to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Her last appearance on stage, in October last year, was in One Day When We Were Young at the Hen & Chickens Theatre. Projects this year include Sketchfest with the comedy group, Forced Rhubarb, at the Hen & Chickens and Canal Cafe Theatre, both in March, and Emma or Emily, a play with opera, with Moon Kim Theatre at the Brighton Fringe Festival in May and Tête à Tête festival at the Cockpit in September. Having had her world slightly rocked by Jerusalem as a younger actor, she is thrilled to be part of this modern classic. |
Jonathan Reed is an improviser, writer and director. He performed improv across London for over 10 years and was on the writing team for the sketch show Vice Captains (Edinburgh Fringe, 2018) and for a follow up podcast (Vice Captains: How to Life Life, 2021). He is also part of the Tower Theatre Writer’s Room. Jon directed Seagulls in 2023 and The Children in 2025 at the Tower, and One Day When We Were Young in 2025 at the Hen and Chickens Theatre. |
