They were deceiving themselves, but the blood couldn’t be denied

1920s rural Spain. A Bride finds her heart torn in two.

Should she marry her faithful betrothed and silence the call of something greater? Or should she give in to forbidden desire — defying her fierce Mother-in-Law and the shadow of her prophetic warnings — to be with Leonardo? Her decision will ignite a blaze. But will it burn with passion, or end in tragedy?

Lorca’s Blood Wedding is one of the defining works of 20th-century European theatre. Part of his celebrated ‘Rural Trilogy’ – alongside Yerma and The House of Bernarda Alba – it blends haunting lyricism with raw human longing. With a modern translation by acclaimed poet Ted Hughes, focusing on the power of language as a mode of dramatic expression, this production offers a rare chance to see a classic reborn with poetic intensity and emotional power.
