Counting to ten can be harder than you think.

In a small town in Vermont, five unlikely people come together in their community centre for a creative drama class for adults. Over six weeks of drama exercises and games ranging from the hilarious to the heartbreaking, their lives become entangled and transformed in humorous and moving ways.

Circle Mirror Transformation is distinguished US playwright Annie Baker’s second play and has been described as her most accessible work and a “quiet masterpiece”. It opened off-Broadway in 2009 and received the 2010 Obie Award for Best New American play. In 2013, it was staged by the Royal Court at the Rose Lipman Building, Haggerston as part of the Theatre Local season with a cast that included Imelda Staunton and Toby Jones.
