Appointment of a new Theatre Manager

The Tower Board has appointed Alistair Brown as Theatre Manager, replacing Jess Vollar-Bell who left at the end of last year.  Alistair will be taking up his duties at the end of June.  He comes to us with considerable experience of working in various capacities in theatres and similar venues.

He says: “Alistair is delighted to be joining the Tower Theatre as Theatre Manager, and really excited to be part of this thriving venue.
After graduating with a degree in drama from Aberystwyth University, he had a number of years as a jobbing actor touring throughout the UK and Ireland.
He has been Company Manager for the East London Shakespeare Festival’s production of Much Ado About Nothing, and also for Quantum Theatre which included directing a number of their open-air, touring and theatre-in-education productions. He has produced and directed work for Lean Beggar Theatre Company including Old Times, and recently produced the première of The Psychiatrist at the White Bear in Kennington.
Alistair comes to the role of Theatre Manager at the Tower having held a similar role at Clapham Omnibus where he joined as a duty manager before quickly becoming theatre/bar manager for the venue, training both their front of house employees and volunteers alongside organising their external hires and events, including supporters’ evenings with Toby Jones and Judi Dench.
He joins the Tower after a 6-month spell as a team leader in the hospitality department at the London Eye, and is relishing this new role and getting to meet everyone at the theatre.”

The Board expresses huge thanks to Nick Insley who has been acting as temporary Theatre Manager since Jess’s departure.  His knowledge and experience have been invaluable in ensuring that there has been no break in our administration and that a high level of service has been maintained to our members, audiences, outside hire companies and other users of the building.
